Recommendations:
1. The trap can be used to work with all kinds of mosquitoes. The trap has been tested in house for its ability to catch Aedes mosquitoes. We have found 90% of total count released were captured by the trap when installed 5 ft from about the ground.
2. Each trap should have atleast 4 batteries and one rated auto-cutoff charger; Two batteries are field installed and two other for using next day.
3. Carry the battery separately apart from the other trap components for safety. The battery might damage or broke other trap parts when carried together in the event of accidental fall of the trap to the ground.
Caution:
1. Never charge the batteries with wrong volts or amps power chargers. Always, use the charger within the rated power mentioned on batteries

Introduction:
The Omni-Directional Fay-Prince Trap Model 112 is a daytime trap which is quite specific for Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus adults of both sexes; it will capture gravid and nulliparous females. Based on the original CDC Fay-Prince Trap, this Model 112 trap increases the collection of females since they can be captured arriving in any direction.
Design Characteristics
The Omni-Directional Fay-Prince Trap is based on the Fay-Prince trap Fay and Prince, 1970, a unit that was specifically designed and field tested for the collection of Aedes aegypti by scientists from the Technical Development Laboratories of the Communicable Disease Center, DHHS. The design was based on the attraction of contrasting gloss black and white panels and employs a wind-orienting cover and cylinder that houses a suction motor and supports the collection bag or killing jar.
With the arrival of Aedes albopictus, scientists from the U. S. Department of Agriculture Jensen et al., 1994 compared a number of new and old trap designs for their ability to collect both Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The trap capturing the most females of both species was a unit consisting of 2 Fay-Prince traps mounted back-to-back and modified so that females arriving from any direction could be captured. The Omni-Directional Fay-Prince Trap is a direct result of these positive field tests.

CO2 Release
The addition of dry ice which involves CO2 gas, results in significant increases in the number and diversity of mosquitoes caught and makes the location of the trap less critical. Used in the afternoon, it allows the collection of diurnally active mosquitoes that are not normally attracted to light traps. Our Insulated Dry Ice Container PN: 1.10 is simply a modified Igloo? drink cooler with stainless steel hardware to make it easy to use with 2 kg of dry ice. The insulation slows the rate of sublimation and by hanging the trap from the hook below the cooler, the CO2 is released at the correct location, right above the trap.
